Who is it for?
Breast sagging, or ptosis, is a common problem for women associated with aging, sizing weight loss, and pregnancy. When the breast skin stretches, or the fat and tissue degenerate, sagging occurs.
This situation can be corrected with a breast lift, or Mastopexy. The procedure is performed under either local anesthetic with intravenous sedation, or general anesthesia. The surgery takes about two hours, and the patient returns home the same day.
To perform the lift, Dr. Ftaiha repositions the nipple and areola to a higher position and removes the excess skin from underneath the breast. The remaining skin is closed around the breast mound to create a higher position and contouring the breast to a more youthful look. When there is severe sagging, the incisions are similar to those of a breast reduction. These incisions are made around the areola then vertically down and under the breast so that the shape of the incision resembles an anchor. The patient can resume light activities the day after surgery, and normal activities in three to four weeks. During this time a support garment is required. The result: younger looking breasts, better fitting clothes, brighter self-esteem.
