Breast Augmentation (Mammomplasty) alters size, raises or reshapes breasts. This is usually performed on women who feel their breasts are too small. Other women may have asymmetry (one breast smaller than the other) or loss of breast mass due to pregnancy or weight loss. Patient’s anatomy is the guide to the choice of technique for surgery, whether to place the implants above or underneath the muscle. Placement of the incision is decided by the physician and the patient.

Surgical augmentation of the breast is performed by using a saline implant that is placed beneath the breast tissue or the muscle, depending on the existing shape of the breasts. This technique involves the use of a small tube inserted underneath the skin either through a navel or bikini incision. Using a video monitor, the implants are delivered to the breast area and then inflated with saline. The outer part of the FDA approved implant is made up of silicone in a flexible, rubber like state. During a consultation, Dr. Ftaiha will have a patient “try-on” different size implants to see which ones will suit her best. The surgery is performed with local anesthesia.
